Nidus Corona Information

Location Nidus Corona is located on the western coast of the large, mountainous land-mass. It is situated near the north flood-plains of a wide river delta that empties out onto the sea. Nidus Corona is built along the flat plains in a temperate biomass, with temperatures ranging from as low as five degrees celsius in the winters to muggy, humid thirties (celsius) during the summer. Rain falls often in the winter and in moderate amounts during the summer. Plant growth is dense, though flooding in the area has stunted the growth of heavy forests.

Nidus Corona hosts long, sandy beaches and warm water with gentle tides, due to the plethora of small and large islands off its western shores. Though it is occasionally in danger of flooding, its soil is extremely fertile. Clean water may be difficult to obtain at times, as the banking river is briny at full tide.

Trade: Nidus Corona's largest foodstuffs come from fishing and farming, with imported cows and emus being favorites. Hunting is a secondary means of food, given the slow moving, somewhat centaur-like creatures that travel in herds through the plains. Gathering is a staple for younger children, as various berry brambles line the plains a few hours flight from the Nidus itself. Medicinal and nutritive plants are copious, many of which are familiar offworld, and some that are being newly catalogued.

Nidus Corona's trade is supplemented by its fine clay and glass, both of which come from the shores it is situated on. It houses a few orchards, though not nearly as many as Nidus Lacus. Nidus Corona is a gathering place for the arts; its mild weather allows outdoor activity all year around. The Festival of Sun is held during the height of summer each year, and functions much like a Gather mixed with street performance. Sand sculpture judging is one favorite tradition of this festival.

Political and Economic Outlook: Nidus Corona is one of 'the big two' Nidii on the continent, housing some of the first settlers to make landfall. It is a peaceful Nidus with a strong work ethic, open to trade from most Paganii and Nidii (save Arx Infusco) and willing to lend ala's for heavier work when needed. In trade with its local Paganii, Nidus Corona receives a bi-monthly tithe from the Paganus's crops and fishing in exchange for lent alas or other workers to help harvest during the busiest parts of the year. Relationships between the Prima and the Dominae of the local Paginii are strong; political strife is currently at a minimum.
Relationships with Other Nidii: Nidus Insula: "Strange lot, keep to themselves, mostly. Trade is mostly in sea-life of varieties that we don't see on the calmer side of the ocean. They seem to be a mixture of hard-bitten and generous. They host some amazing parties... I've never been, but the stories I've heard are quite unbelievable."
Nidus Silva: "Reserved, mostly, we don't hear much from our Northern neighbors. We keep trade lines open but we are both fairly self-sufficient. Their shipments of lumber have proven extremely useful to us. There aren't a lot of humans up there, so the dragons get more out of social ties than we do."
Nidus Lacus: "Saviors, really, or at least they'd like us to think so. They guard the valleys between us and the Arx and keep those big bullies on their own side of the fence, so to speak. Nidus Lacus is the primary exporter of orchard fruit... and for that we take pains to keep them on our good side. They're a little... temperamental, but they are good, solid neighbors."
Nidus Descendi: "The other 'Big Two' Nidus, we are basically at opposite ends of the continent, but we keep in touch with one another. They're more traditional, in many ways -- they live in rock tunnels, for goodness sake! -- but they are good folk. We trade some of their metal ores (for a tail and a wing, even) but we're grateful for the trade. In return we ship out a lot of our farming and fishing, as they have it pretty tough, so deep in the mountains."
Arx Infusco: "Don't even get me started on the Arx. Every bully, thug, murderer, thief, rapist and general ne'er-do-well seem to have pooled into that cesspit and they aren't likely leaving. We occasionally get some loafer strutting into the Nidus looking for 'trade', but what they really want is a tail in the door to raid us and take our hard-earned... well, everything. If our Custos spot an Infuscan, we run them out of town. If our Paginii report spotting shady characters, we put an extra watch out. They're just trouble."
Population: Census, Year 0: 70 dragons and/or dragon/rider pairs.
32 Male dragons and 38 Female dragons.
5 human families composed of between three and eleven individuals each.
28 Dragons with dragon-human shifting abilities (14 Males and 13 Females).
11 Winged wolves (5 Males and 6 Females).

Corona WolfKeep Information

About Corona WolfKeep is composed of the wolfpacks that accompanied settlers of Nidus Corona from its founding year. During the first few years after the Nidus's founding, winged wolves and their bonds lived within the Nidus, but their growing population accompanied by the customs of Nidus life began to chafe.

The two packs of the time split away from Nidus Corona late during the sixth year after founding. Following the river Westward, the packs found a suitable location to settle and founded their own WolfKeep in the heavily wooded hills between Nidus Corona and Nidus Lacus. Most of the WolfKeep is composed of tunnels dug into the loamy soil at the base of dry stream channels, however, a few structures built by the wolves' riders were (and are in the process of being) built above ground.
The WolfKeep is on friendly terms with Nidus Corona, though there is not much in the way of trade between the two. Occasionally a pack or two will be called upon to deal with vermin control around the Paganus, and wolves may travel to either the Nidus or the Paganus to seek bonds for their offspring. The WolfKeep rarely entertains company from other Nidusi or Nexus visitors.
